About the Museum
Museum of Central Otava Region of Strakonice is a contributory organisation of the South Bohemian Region. It has a seat in the premises of the Strakonice castle founded by the noble family of Bavor of Strakonice.
Expositions show the history of the region from prehistoric times to the present.
Capitular Hall and Cloister
The Capitular Hall and the adjacent Cloister are the oldest buildings of the entire Strakonice castle premises. The hall used to be a Johannite commandery.
The black kitchen is located near the passage from the second castle courtyard to the third castle courtyard. The well-preserved room with an oven was probably used as a bakery.
Castle Tower of Rumpál
The Gothic tower was built after 1260 under the reign of Bavor II. It is 35 m high and has 99 stairs.
